Most the time, if you call any of our Blood Bank programs they are offering some type of a promotion. And in most cases, this promo is written right into your script for you, meaning all you have to do is read it.
- First and foremost, these promotions are the Blood Center’s way of giving the donors a special thank-you for being blood donors. Frequently, the only way a donor knows about a promotion is if they are told during a call. Sometimes promotions are listed on a blood center’s website, or they will send out cards to the donors. However, this does not happen all the time, so it is our job to stay up-to-date on promotions, as well as let the donor know about what promotions are running.
- Another reason it will be helpful for you to read it to them is because the Blood Center has done tests proving that the promotions help bring in donors. The best thing you can do is to use these promotions in your calls as encouragement for the donor to schedule an appointment and come in to donate. You also have several opportunities to let the donor know about the promotions or even what they can do with the points they have accumulated from past donations.
By doing things like that you are really making sure that the donor feels like your customer.
Think about it like this… Say, you go into a department store and pick up a few items. When you go to the cash register, the cashier lets you know about the promotions and sales you just qualified for and does her best to make sure you get the best deal possible. That would make you feel pretty great, wouldn’t it? So why not do the same for your donors and really make them happy customers.
